On Friday the 19 March 2010 Wagga Wagga VRA was invited to a community family night at Bunning's Warehouse there were 24 community groups in attendance with stalls that showcased what their organisation had to offer the community.
Wagga VRA displayed their Rescue truck and some Rescue equipment and had a lot of interest from the public. 


As part of being there each group received a ticket in a chance to win one of five $1000  gift cards at Bunning's of which Wagga VRA won one. Also on the night Bunning's had a special guest, former Australian Idol contestant Paulini Curuenavuli who handed out the cheques to the winners.

Approximately 12pm on the 5th March 2010 the Wagga Wagga Rescue Squad received a call from the police to attend a motor vehicle accident in Wagga outside Hillis Ford. On arrival rescuers found that there had been a 4 car nose to tail accident due to heavy rain, there was one person still in the car but they were not trapped. VRA members assisted the paramedics to remove the patient from the car and then load into an ambulance, the patient was then taken to Wagga Base Hospital.

Later that day at  2.30pm Wagga Wagga Rescue Squad were called to attend a motor vehicle accident  at the intersection  of the Sturt and Olympic Highways, on arrival rescuers found that one car had run into the back of another car and there were three elderly people still in one  vehicle. It was ascertained that all three persons were all ok and that they were remaining in the vehicle just to stay out of the rain.

On returning to the squad rooms Wagga VRA received another call over the Police radio to attend  the Hume Hwy 3km north of Tarcutta for a person trapped accident. On arrival rescuers found  that there had been a head on between a B-double truck and a car. VRA members found a male patient laying on the road beside the car and a deceased female still in the vehicle. VRA members provided first aid the male patient until paramedics arrived. The male patient was loaded into an ambulance and taken to Wagga Base Hospital. The truck driver was not hurt in the accident but was taken to hospital for shock. Wagga VRA then assisted forensic police with the investigations before removing the deceased from the car.

Approximately 3pm on the 7th March Wagga VRA were called to assist the SES as Wagga had received over 100mm of rain in 12 hours. Wagga VRA were involved in sandbagging houses to protect from raising waters and were also tarpping up house roofs and removing some trees that had fallen down. While they were assisting the SES at 930pm Wagga VRA were called by police to Boiling Down road, south of Wagga where a male in a car had been swept away in flood waters at a creek crossing.

On arrival VRA members found the car with a male person sitting on the roof about 50 metres down stream from the creek crossing. The car was swept about 20 metres from the bank in about 1 metre of water, VRA members then waded out to the car and removed the driver from the roof he was then taken back to safety. The teenage driver was left to explain to his parents how their new car  with only 500kms on the clock had been totaled, VRA members then retuned to base and called it a night.
